We can also offer automatic driving lessons to anyone who needs them. We would always recommend manual driving lessons first, but if you have tried them or have a disability that prevents you from doing so, we will be happy to teach you in an automatic car.
We can cater for people with various degrees of disability. Our Automatic car is fitted with a left foot accelerator peddle (as well as a right one) for drivers with limited or no use of the right leg.( Don't Worry, only left or right is fitted at one time) It can also be fitted with a steering wheel ball, to make driving possible with one hand. Extra Mirrors can also be fitted for all round visability.
If you pass your test in an automatic car, you can only drive automatic cars on your driving licence. To be able to drive manual cars you would need to take another driving test. This is why we would recommend manual driving lessons to begin with.
Lots of manufacturers are now using semi automatic gearboxes ie tiptronic/easitronic, these can be driven in fully automatic mode or you can select the gears with formula 1 type paddles or a manual mode on the gear stick. These cars have no clutch so, therefore, can be driven on an automatic licence.
Automatic cars have no clutch, you just select D with the gear lever, the car will then select the most suitable gear for whatever speed you travel at. With no clutch to worry about, you will never stall an automatic car.
The advantages of learning to drive in an auto car are:
You will NEVER STALL
You do not need to change gear
No clutch to worry about
You should not need as many lessons
The disadvantages are:
You are limited to driving Automatic cars once you have passed your test.
If you have tried manual lessons, or you think automatic is the way to go, give us a call on 01530 260314 or 07782193503 for any information you need. We are more than happy to give free advice on all aspects of driving and passing your driving test.
